Please bring sleeping bags, warm clothing, sun cream, sun glasses, large hats, caps, mosquito repellents. Tents are available unless you have your own.
7 Days & 6 Nights Ngorongoro-Olmoti-Empakaai-Oldonyo Lengai-Lake Natron
Day 1:
Arusha to Ngorongoro Highlands. Drive to Ngorongoro. Walk to Olmoti crater which has 100m waterfall supplying fresh water via the Munge stream to Ngorongoro Crater.
Meals & overnight at camp at Nainokanoka, a Maasai village.
Day 2:
Olmoti Crater. Olmoti stands at 3,099m above sea level with good scenic views. After breakfast, descend and walk through forest. Ascend for lunch at camp. Transfer to Empakaai by 4X4 through the Embulbul depression where Maasai and wildlife can be seen co-existing side by side.
Dinner & overnight at rim campsite.
Day 3:
Empakaai Crater.After breakfast, descend to the Crater. Elevation on western rim is 3,200m above sea level. It is the most fascinating place in the whole of Ngorongoro Conservation Area for scenic views. There are diversity of plant species and if lucky buffalo can be seen. The Crater Lake fills 90% of the Crater. Oldonyo Lengai the active volcano can be seen from here. Walk along rim to Naiyobi village.
Dinner & overnight at Campsite.
Day 4:
Oldonyo Lengai “Mountain of God” to the Maasai. After breakfast walk to the active carbonatite volcano Oldonyo Lengai which last erupted in 1983.It rises 1,830m above the floor.
Dinner & overnight at camp. At night ascend volcano in time to leave peak for lunch at base. Dinner and overnight at base camp.
Day 5:
Lake Natron - breeding ground for millions of flamingoes is in the Great African Rift Valley. After breakfast walk along the Rift Valley to Lake Natron. The landscape looks like being on the moon. It’s remote and hot and off the beaten track.
Day 6:
Lake Natron. Explore Natron area.
Dinner & overnight at campsite.
Day 7:
Lake Natron to Arusha town.
Drive back to Arusha by 4x4 safari vehicle with lunch box.
